Another wonderful year of Valley theatre is behind us, and it is time again to take a look back. 2016 was filled with Valley premieres, musical classics, and amazing performances--too many to mention them all, but here are a few.
If you are in need of something to help you forget the political craziness that has been going on, head over to the Selma Arts Center this weekend and see Big Fish. This show will lift your spirits and take you out of the real world for awhile!
Three weeks ago, I didn’t even know there was ever a Broadway musical based on the Daniel Wallace novel and the Tim Burton film Big Fish. Now, not only do I know it exists, I have seen it…….in Tulare, at the Encore Theatre through July 18.
In the thirty-seven years since its inception, Tulare’s Encore Theatre Company has evolved from a summer school program replacement, to the Tulare mainstay that it is today. After funding was cut for a Summer School Theater Program in 1978, teachers and parents who’d been involved in that program decided it was high time for Tulare to establish a permanent outlet for the dramatic arts. Thus the Encore Theatre Company was born.
