Lois Meade has her hands full to run a cleaning service, corral Gran and her friend, keep up with three adult children and a husband, and Jeems the dog. She does manage to find a bit of spare time to investigate murders. After all, one needs a hobby.

Lois Meade is at it again with the help of Police Inspector Cowgill, semi-retired. This time things are much closer to home. Her daughter’s small grocery shop and apartment above are suddenly infested with exotic rodents and reptiles. There is a zoo nearby, but how did the creatures get out to all find their way to the same place? It’s downright creepy, which also describes the zoo’s director.
Ivy and Roy are getting married, long after either thought they’d ever find someone and fall in love. After all, they now live in a retirement home and are what is optimistically called, set in their ways. However, love is not to be denied but it sometimes can be delayed.
