For the past several years I have had the pleasure of following the career of a local band that got its start in Reedley, A Current Affair. I first interviewed them when I was working at the Reedley Exponent, and KRL profiled them last year. We have watched them grow and change and experience some impressive success.
Being given the opportunity to write reviews for this magazine, I have been able to explore different types of music, books and so on. This time round, I have been given the opportunity to write a review on the band A Current Affair, who I have placed among my favorites. Their sound (alternative rock) makes you want to bob your head along, while offering meaningful lyrics and messages that are punctuated by said sound. A Current Affair, though, has been around for a while, but you may be surprised to hear that this group has only been performing together for about eight months.
From the vocal tones to the guitar levels, from the thickness of the bass lines to the pleasant, tight sound of the kit, the mix is superb and the CD is rockin’. Local band A Current Affair has done it again with their new CD entitled The Real Devastation.
