Coenzyme: Everything You Need to Know and More

IN THE February 8 ISSUE

FROM THE 2021 Articles SECTIONS

by staff

A Coenzyme is a chemical-free molecule that combines with an enzyme to fasten a reaction, and it does not contain proteins. Coenzymes are also called Cofactors. However, they differ chemically. A Coenzyme becomes useful when combined with an enzyme, but it can’t operate alone. Alternatively, an enzyme is a protein that plays the role of a catalyst to bond and fastens a chemical reaction. So a coenzyme strengthens the function of an enzyme.

Another year has ended and once again we take a look back at a few of the many books that were reviewed in KRL in 2020. 2020 was a year most of us want to forget, but one good thing that did happen is that a lot of great books were published! All but one of our main reviewers share in this post their top 5-10ish favorite books they reviewed in 2020. Katherine Costa wanted to include favorite authors and TV shows that she has reviewed, so hers went up in a separate post in this issue.

Bone Canyon is the second book in the Eve Ronin series written by Lee Goldberg. Eve is the youngest homicide detective in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, a position many think that she hasn’t earned since she got the job after a video of her went viral. Because of this, she isn’t very popular among some of her coworkers.

KRL would like to welcome local animal rescue Cats By The Tracks to KRL’s growing list of animal rescue columns. Their first column will go up next month, but we took some time this month to get to know them a little better. We chatted with their coordinator Jeremy Goodrich. Jeremy helps rescue animals, find foster families, and approve adoptions. He also manages their social media and website, as well as their donation platform. Cats By The Tracks is currently located in Fresno, as well as Santa Cruz County. They have adoption centers throughout California, and rescue animals from all over California.
