Now that’s more like it!

You could see it in the faces of the players, the coaches and the fans. Saturday night’s come from behind 22-19 win by the Reedley College Tigers over Sacramento City College was a great relief to many, and one of the most exciting games played at Reedley High School Stadium in some time.

The Tigers jumped off to an early 9-0 lead behind and interception return touchdown by Defensive Back Chris McGee, and a safety. The Panthers came back and took a 19-15 lead late in the game, only to see the Tigers win it with five minutes remaining on a spectacular touchdown catch by wide receiver Will Hanford.

The Tigers tried a new look at Quarterback, starting freshman Devin Knudsen (Clovis West). It seemed to work, as Knudsen showed a little more mobility and a strong and accurate arm. The offense was still spotty at times, but progress is being made.

The real star of this game was the defense. After being torched repeatedly by Delta and Fresno, the Tiger “D” responded with a great effort against Sac City, holding the Panthers to just 19 yards rushing.

So the Tigers are riding a win streak, finally, and will look to extend it this Saturday night in Monterey, as the face Monterey Peninsula at six p.m.
