Momentum or confidence – which is more important? If your talking about the Reedley College Tigers Football team, they had a little of both going into last Friday’s game against Diablo Valley in Pleasanton, but neither did them any good, as they lost 49-21.

The Tigers had confidence and momentum following their previous game, a win over Monterey Peninsula that broke an eleven game losing streak. But after a week off the Tigers were right back to where they were before the win – spotty defense and a hit and miss offense that simply couldn’t produce enough points to keep up with their opponent.

Quarterback Sean Stell had a rough game, throwing for only 167 years. He did throw two touchdown passes, but he also threw two interceptions. The Tiger defense was the real problem. They gave up a whopping 465 years through the air, including five touchdown passes from Diablo Valley quarterback Quinn Kaeler.

So it’s back to basics for the Tigers as they gear up for their home conference opener this Saturday afternoon at one pm, against Merced College. It’ll be homecoming for the Tigers. Let’s see if they can put a lopsided loss behind them and get back to their winning ways.

Check back every Monday evening during football season for the latest game recap and watch for some RC football interviews!
