The Reedley College Tigers were looking to turn their fortunes around at home Saturday afternoon after three consecutive road losses, but it didn’t work out that way – not even close. The Tigers were blown out by San Joaquin Delta 52-7 at Reedley High School Stadium.

The Mustangs’ high-octane offense out-gained the Tigers 575 yards to 216. The Tigers would have suffered a home shutout were it not for Matt Trejo’s interception return touchdown late in the first half.

Nothing worked for Reedley. The offense was inconsistent, and when they did have a chance to score, backup Quarterback Jordan McCarty lost a fumble at the Delta one-yard line. The defense was even worse. Adding to an already embarrassing statistic, the Tigers are now giving up an average of over 47 points per game.

This season is turning into one of the most disappointing in recent memory, but as I have mentioned many times this season, this is a very young team, they will learn how to win, and if the majority of the freshmen return next season, this will be a much improved team. The Tigers’ next game will also be their final road game of the season, against Modesto Junior College, Saturday night at six.
