Jackie Dale-TheCatMother/Cat Trapper: Have a Plan/Cats Keep Coming

by Jackie Dale

As I ended last month’s column, my friend Janice and I were trapping the cats at the home of our departed friend. Bobby, the large male cat with the injured tail has settled in nicely at his new home. He was kept in a large enclosure on my friend’s porch for three weeks before she opened the door. Bobby is a very lucky cat with a wonderful new home. The two black cats, a brother and sister, are living in my yard where they seem to be very happy.

Rogue Festival 2025

by Mallory Moad

If you follow the arts scene in Fresno, you've no doubt heard of the Rogue Festival. Maybe you've even attended. Created in 2002 by Fresno playwright Marcel Nunis, it has become one of the oldest, continuously operating (and best respected) fringe festivals in North America. The Rogue has progressively grown in size from one venue with two stages and a handful of local acts to nine separate venues and 40 performing groups and individuals from all over the US, Canada, Australia and the UK.

Dolled Up for Murder By Anna St. John: Review/Giveaway/Interview

by Tracy Condie

Book three of the Josie Posey Mysteries finds English Village celebrating the Christmas season with a Christmas Market and an influx of visitors. Among the sightseers is Nellie’s aunt Opal, twin to notable doll collector Pearl. After books one and two, the Mahjong Mavens were ready to leave the police work to the police. But there is no way the Mavens can ignore the pain that fellow Maven Nellie experiences when her aunt Opal is murdered.

Beast of the North Woods By Annelise Ryan: Review/Giveaway

by Cynthia Chow

In addition to running her Door County, Wisconsin, Odds & Ends bookstore (which definitely has a lot of oddities), Morgan Carter is a cryptozoologist for hire, meaning that she attempts to prove – or disprove – the existence of mythical beasts. She’s never been hired by an attorney before though, even though Roger Bosworth is the step-brother-in-law of her employee Rita.

Rogue Show Previews Local Performers: The Trimmings/Three Fresno Songwriters

by Marc Gonzalez & Blake Jones

After last year’s Marty’s Turn, I got a hankering to perform my own writing again. But I had learned a few things since Merely a Player, which served as my playwriting and solo show debut in 2020, also at the Rogue Festival: 1) I don’t have the bandwidth to learn and perform an entire, traditional solo play, and 2) I need a team. I need to be directed. I need someone to help me develop the script, and I need someone with an eye for design.

Rogue Show Preview: Breakneck Twelfth Night, My Most Asked Question

by Timothy Mooney

I write this about four weeks in advance of the Rogue getting back underway, at the end of another marathon drive from my new home in Imlay City, Michigan to Macon, Georgia. That’s 14 hours on the road. I usually only do those kinds of drives on my way to or back from Fresno, when I’ve got to get across Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona in a super-fast sprint. (I do it because I love you!)

Rogue Show Previews With Magic: The Magic of Eric/Married by Magic

by Eric Hiett,
& Yan and Rin Ozzi

At the age of 7, I became fascinated with magic. Owning a couple books, I was able to put a show together to perform before some friends in the neighborhood. My first real show was when I was in the eighth grade and performed before the entire school. Everything went wrong, and it ended up more like a comedy show than a magic show.
