At three-months old, Boxy and Boxcutter may be small, but they are bursting with energy, playfulness, and charm. These spirited kittens love to wrestle with toys, leap as high as they can, and bring smiles to everyone who meets them.
Both kittens currently stay in their own cozy room because they tested FIV-positive (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). While that might sound worrisome, FIV is not a death sentence. With regular veterinary checkups, proper nutrition, and a safe indoor environment, FIV+ cats can live long, healthy, and happy lives just like any other cat.
Unfortunately, FIV still carries a stigma that often makes these cats harder to adopt. Many people believe that FIV+ cats are sickly, contagious to other pets, or that they will not live long. None of this is true. FIV mainly affects a cat’s immune system over time, but with good care and a calm indoor home, many FIV+ cats can live a long and happy life.
The virus is not easily spread and is primarily transmitted through deep bite wounds that occur in serious fights between outdoor cats. It cannot be spread through casual contact, such as sharing food bowls, grooming, or playing. Most importantly, FIV cannot be transmitted to dogs or humans.
Boxy and Boxcutter are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together. They are ready to find a loving home where they can continue to play, cuddle, and thrive. They would be a wonderful fit for a first-time cat owner or a family that already has an FIV+ cat.
Adoptions at Valley Animal Center are donation-based for the remainder of the year, making it the perfect time to welcome a new furry family member.
Our Cat Adoption Center is closed Monday and Tuesday. We are open Wednesday through Friday by appointment, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Scheduling a visit is easy. Simply fill out an adoption application on our website. You do not need to have a specific animal in mind. Once submitted, email us at cats@valleyanimal[dot]org or dogs@valleyanimal.org, and our staff will gladly help you set up a time that fits your schedule.
If adoption is not an option right now, you can still make a difference. Donations help provide food, medical treatment, and daily care for pets like Boxy and Boxcutter, as well as many others who arrive with special medical needs. Every contribution, big or small, helps us continue to give animals the second chance they deserve.
