The Reedley College Tigers suffered their fifth straight loss Saturday night, falling to the Modesto Junior College Pirates 56-24.
Defense again was a problem for the Tigers, as the Pirates moved effortlessly up and down the field, putting up 49 first half points. Modesto’s Markus Sanders rushed 20 times for 127 yards and four touchdowns. Quinton McCown passed for 209 yards and two scores.
The Tigers started Freshman Jordan McCarty at Quarterback, and he had some pretty good moments, but as has been the case all season, the Tigers just couldn’t get any sustained offense going. They also lost running back Joshua Andrews to an undisclosed arm injury.
The Tigers play their final two games at home, beginning this Saturday when they host COS at one p.m. It’s homecoming for Reedley College, and nothing would make the Alumni happier than a win over their rivals from Visalia.

It seems that every week you and Will Goldbeck use the excuse that RC has a predominantly freshman team as the reason for their terrible season…wait, didn’t they have the same problem last year? Also, why is it that every single year a number of frosh transfer down the road to COS? What exactly is happening on the practice field?
You are confusing the words excuse and reason. The fact that this is a mostly freshman team is one of the REASONS the team has performed poorly. It’s not an excuse, and the players and coaches are certainly not making excuses – they are continuing to work hard. If you want to know why some players transferred to COS, ask them. I cover the Reedley College team, not the COS team. My job is to report what goes on on the field. I don’t engage in gossip and speculation. Thanks for your response.
