October means Halloween which means a lot of horror games to play. Horror games are not all that are released in October but that is the majority. Let’s players have horror-thons of indie horror games and big release horror games. This October has been a mix of horror and games set in the past, as well as some fun cartoon adventures.

gamesOne highly anticipated game of October was Middle Earth: Shadow of War, the sequel to Shadow of Mordor which takes plays in the Lord of the Rings universe. The sequel is a role playing set in an open world environment. As the player you play as Talion a ranger of Gondor who shares his body with the spirit of elf lord Celebrimbor. This game features a nemesis system which allows you to build up followers and a nemesis. The game has been highly praised so far as the world created is expansive, engaging, and the perfect amount of time-consuming.

gameThe Evil Within 2 is the big release horror game this Halloween season, which released on October 13. The game takes place three years after the events of the first game. Sebastian, the protagonist, is asked by an agent of the company Mobius to help find Sebastian’s daughter Lily whose essence has been used to power the STEM system which can distort reality. Reviews have been generally positive with an average rating of 8/10, praising its fun survival horror atmosphere and complicated engaging side missions while criticizing the repetitive dialogue.

gameSouth Park: The Fractured But Whole released on October 17 and follows where the previous game left off. In the game you can play as ten different superhero classes and choose the gender of your character. The famous South Park character Cartman has planned to film a superhero franchise but a falling out forces the characters into two different groups which leads to a civil war of sorts. The game has been receiving rave reviews from fans of the television series as it is consistent with the humor of the show and its over the top nature.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm episode 2 released October 19. The episode took place the morning after the events of the previous episode. It was everything I ever wanted: there was romance, adventure, and hilarious moments. The game series keeps getting better and better. Critics are saying the second episode is even better than the first and fans are eating it up.game

Destiny 2, which has been mentioned in previous articles, released on PC on October 24. Many players are PC loyalists and have been waiting and waiting for the PC release.

gameAssassin’s Creed Origins released on October 27. Fans have been waiting quite awhile for a new Assassin’s Creed game. This game follows features assassin Bayek who works to protect the people of the Ptolemaic Kingdom in the Ancient world. Julius Caesar and Cleopatra are just some of the historical figures featured in the game.

gameWolfenstein II: The New Colossus released October 27. The Wolfenstein series takes place during World War II with the goal of fighting and escaping Nazis. This game imagines a world in which the Nazis won World War II and is now occupying America. The “Wolfenstein” series has been around since 1981, which makes it one of the longest running game series of all time.

Finally, here is a short round up of some upcoming indie horror games: Agony, Allison Road, Call of Cthulhu, Detention, Ghost Theory, and Hollow all to be released this year.
