I love Halloween and this Valley knows how to do it up right! There are Halloween events all over-some for kids and some for adults-some free and some cost. Some of them are even fundraisers for a good cause. This week we are featuring another Halloween event that is also a fundraiser for Valley Children’s Hospital/Healthcare-a Halloween Bash. The event is being put on by La Visionaria Guild, so we chatted with Dallas Selling, who is the Vice President of the organization and a founding member.
KRL: First off, what is the La Visionaria Guild?
Dallas Selling: La V is a non-profit organization that was started in 2008. It is composed of young female professionals that raise money for Valley Children’s Hospital/Healthcare. Every year we have an annual Halloween Bash—Costumes and Cocktails for Charity—which is an adult costume party and fundraising dinner that includes specialty cocktails, silent auction, live auction, and some form of live entertainment.
KRL: What exactly happens at the Halloween Bash?
Dallas Selling: We start with a happy hour, followed by a sit-down dinner served by Love and Garlic. We present a “grateful family” that tells their story of an experience at VCH. There is a silent auction, dessert auction, and live auction. We close the night with a costume contest and a dance party.
KRL: Is this the first one?
Dallas Selling: This is the third annual event.
KRL: Do all the funds go to Valley Children’s Hospital?
Dallas Selling: Yes, all proceeds. Last year we raised $46,500.
KRL: How does one get a ticket to attend?
Dallas Selling: We have five sponsorship levels: $10,000, $5,000, $2,500, $1,000, and $500. Each level provides the sponsor with a certain amount of tickets and other benefits. We also have individual tickets for sale for $75.
KRL: Where can we purchase tickets?
Dallas Selling: You can go to our website, lavisionariaguild.org, and purchase tickets through Eventbrite.
KRL: Is it formal?
Dallas Selling: Attire is costumes.
KRL: Anything you would like to add?
Dallas Selling: This year’s theme is white masquerade.
