If you love the beauty of sparkling brilliance, then Glitter is your gal!

Glitter (Animal ID: 21340) is a four-year-old orange tabby. She and her siblings were surrendered to Valley Animal Center when they were only four months old. While all of Glitter’s siblings were adopted, she has been in the care of Valley Animal Center since 2018.

Currently, Glitter is only available for adoption to those who express serious interest in her. According to Valley Animal Center’s animal care operations supervisor, Maritza Lopez, Glitter is a special case.

“Glitter is in advanced kidney failure,” Lopez said, “and has experienced some dental issues. Most of her teeth have been removed and only her canines remain.”

It is very difficult to find a potential adopter who is interested in adopting an animal with special needs. Most are interested in taking home a cat or kitten who is outgoing, playful, and healthy. Due to her kidney disease, it is important that Glitter see a veterinarian every six months. She’s also on a kidney diet. How long she has left to live is also another deterrent.

“Glitter may live for another ten years or one,” Lopez said. “It all depends on how her kidney values change as time goes by.”

At Valley Animal Center, Glitter appears to be perfectly healthy. Despite not having many teeth, she loves her wet food. She’s very sweet and has beautiful round eyes that often times express how she’s feeling. Glitter is very shy and tends to hide when potential adopters enter her room. Just like any other animal, however, she deserves to live the rest of her years in a home of her own, preferably one without any dogs or children as she is easily startled.

“Glitter requires someone who can give her all the patience in the world,” Lopez said. “I know she can be a wonderful pet. She just needs to be given the chance for her personality to come through.”

Because Glitter is considered a long-term resident, her adoption fee is only $50, which includes spay, up to date on vaccines, and microchip ID. Those interested in meeting her, may visit Valley Animal Center at 3934 N. Hayston Ave. in Fresno. The cat adoption center is open Wednesday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
