Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno will be sharing with us every other month about their rescue dogs.

Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno (LRRF) is pleased to present our newest superstars, now available for adoption! You might remember these boys as part of the Highway Men, young superstars blazing a trail in country music. They are good ol’ country boys looking for a good place to sing their songs and enjoy their fans and supporters. They are the one and only Waylon & Willie!

Waylon & Willie

Now Waylon & Willie may not be purebred Labradors, technically they may not even be Labradors at all! But here at LRRF, we try our best to help every pup in need, even if we stretch the definition of a Labrador a bit. And these sweet boys are all Labrador in their hearts. These gorgeous brothers were brought in as strays to a local shelter begging for help, and Phew…luckily for Waylon & Willie, we were able to take them in to our rescue. They are learning to enjoy the finer things in life like air conditioning and comfy beds, and while they are loving life at their foster home, they are ready to find their special forever families to love forever!

Willie

Waylon and Willie are gentle and mellow big-hearted boys that need a nice home and yard to romp in along with a soft bed to stretch out their long legs on as they sleep inside each night. They are big fellas and will only grow bigger, but they are true gentle giants who love to just hang out! Netflix and chill on the couch? Willie & Waylon are in! Sleep in and snuggle on the weekends? Let’s do it! They are cat curious, but gentle, good with dogs of all sizes and love people! They haven’t really ever met a leash they liked, but like many musical artists they are a bit free-spirited. Car rides also make them a little nervous but thanks to their foster family’s efforts, they are improving and learning that car rides typically end up with them going to fun places like the park or the farmer’s market. Willie & Waylon both sure do love being by their peoples’ sides, so if they gotta ride in car and wear a leash do it, they’ll give it a go!

Willie and Waylon are brothers and while they are very similar, like all siblings, they have their differences. Waylon is the more easy-going, laid-back fellow. He is a calm and mellow boy, but he is a vocalist and does like to sing on occasion. He is handsome and easy going, loves to be center of attention, and can be a lazy couch potato. Willie is a little more on the goofy side. He’s playful and curious, more easily gets into trouble, thinks counter surfing is a great hobby, and has shown a little more enthusiasm for meeting the kitties. But, he too is gentle and sweet as can be. He is a total lover boy; nothing makes him happier than attention from his people.

Waylon

Waylon and Willie are a pair unlike any we’ve seen! The brothers may be adopted together, or individually, both would do well meeting and integrating into a pack with another buddy dog if they go to separate families. Like all young Labradors, Willie and Waylon will need a family who is committed to exercising them daily and taking training classes with them to ensure a lifetime of good behavior. If you have room in your heart for a giant lovable dog, and would like to make Willie and/or Waylon a member of your family, please apply to adopt today at www.labrescuefresno.org!

Not in a place to permanently adopt a Labrador, but still want to help out? Consider fostering! Fostering is the vital stepping stone to get a dog from homelessness to their forever family and provides an extremely rewarding experience. There is nothing like watching a scared dog learn to trust and love again and blossom into their true selves. LRRF provides all veterinary care, food, and supplies for foster dogs, however we do ask that you live within an hour or so drive of Fresno in order to take your foster dog to our vet as needed. Please apply to foster at: labrescuefresno.org/become-a-foster/foster-application.

Not ready to foster, but still want to help? Consider making a tax-deductible donation to LRRF! We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and 100% of all donations go to care for the dogs in our rescue. You can donate via PayPal on our website, www.labrescuefresno.org, or via snail mail to LRRF, PO Box 1484, Clovis, CA 93613. Also check out our Amazon Wishlist which has a variety of supplies our Labradors always need. We greatly appreciate your support and could not save pups like Waylon and Willie without your help!
