Tim and Tom are two of the many adult cats available for adoption at Valley Animal Center. They have both been in our care for a few years. Unfortunately they have not found their forever home because they are often overlooked since they are positive for the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV).

FIV causes a weakening of the cat’s immune system. There is no proven treatment to rid a cat of FIV, luckily an FIV-positive cat can handle the disease well. What’s important is to concentrate on preventing secondary illnesses the cat is more susceptible to. It is not contagious to people or dogs, just from cat to cat. As long as an FIV-positive cat is well cared for, they can be healthy, happy, wonderful pets.

Tim and Tom are great cuddle buddies once they get to know you. If you’re considering adopting one of them, we recommend they go to a home with another FIV-positive cat or no cats. And with their weakened immune systems they should be indoor cats. They have been here long enough and deserve a loving home!

Like all of our adoptable animals, Tim and Tom have already been neutered, de-wormed, are up-to-date on their vaccinations, and are micro-chipped. For the month of October, all dogs six months and older have an adoption fee of $50; and all orange cats six months and older have an adoption fee of $50.
