Jewels is a loving Pit Bull mix that we estimate to be about four-years-old. A couple of months ago, she and her ten puppies came to Valley Animal Center from the CCSPCA.

When Jewels came into our care, she was severely underweight where her ribs and backbone were visible. Since she was producing milk to feed ten puppies, it was difficult to put weight on her because that’s where all her resources were going. Luckily our animal care staff has been successful at slowly increasing her weight. The loving family that adopts Jewels will continue to steadily increase her food intake until she gets to a healthy size.

Pit Bull mixes have a false reputation of being dangerous. In fact, when properly trained and socialized, Pit Bull mixes are some of the friendliest dogs you’ll meet, making them great companion and family dogs. They also require proper training to overcome their stubborn tendencies.

Jewels has such a calm personality, we believe that she can fit in with many different family types. As long as the family provides Jewels her daily walks, her energy needs will be satisfied. Jewels can go to a home with other dogs, but we do not recommend a home with cats. Although Jewels is great with children, we also recommend the children be older to avoid her accidentally knocking the little ones down. valley animal center rescue pups

Bonus points for the lovely Jewels, she knows how to shake! She’s a smart dog but has plenty to learn. We recommend that the family has the time to devote to obedience and leash training for Jewels. rescue dog valley animal center

Eight of the puppies have already been adopted by caring people. Now Jewels and her remaining three puppies are waiting patiently for their forever homes. Like all of our adoptable animals, Jewels has already been spayed, de-wormed, is up-to-date on her vaccinations, and is micro-chipped. For the month of September, all dogs six months and older, that’s including Jewels, have an adoption fee of $100; we have a special on all black cats or black and white cats for $50.

Our low-cost clinic special for this month is only $5 for the rabies vaccine. If you would like more information about Jewels or any of our adoptable animals, please visit Valley Animal Center at 3934 N. Hayston Ave, Fresno. Our cat and dog adoption centers are open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.!
