The Taste of the Town in Downtown Reedley has been an annual event for over two decades. This year’s theme is Country Jamboree and G Street will be decorated with a country flair, and have live music.

“It’s a really fun event, where you get to excite your taste buds,” shared Barbie Shakespeare, Executive Director of the Reedley Downtown Association. “With the purchase of your ticket, you will get to eat and drink all evening. Sampling food, desserts, wines and beers from our area’s restaurants, gourmet food shops, wineries and breweries.” Taste of the Town 5884-page-0

The Taste of the Town is not only the premier event of the Reedley Downtown Association each year where local eateries are highlighted, but it also helps raise funds for other community events such as the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and the Electrical Farm Equipment Parade.

One of the local businesses that will be participating is the Lanna Coffee Co. This is their first year participating in the event and they are looking forward to connecting with the City of Reedley and its restaurants. “We will probably be serving some of our cold brew coffee and potentially some hot coffee as well,” said Lanna Coffee Co. CEO Bryan Feil.

lanna“Lanna Coffee looks forward to sharing about how those who brew and drink coffee can make a direct impact on those living in Thailand in the under-resourced hills of Northern Thailand,” continued Bryan. “Not only in supporting and buying coffee from Lanna are individuals drinking an amazing cup of coffee that is shade grown, direct trade and pesticide free, but we are sending profits to help communities grow out of poverty!”

The Bear Club in Reedley will be making its second appearance at the Taste of the Town this year and they feel that it is an important event that gives locals a chance to taste the different types of cuisine the local restaurants have to offer.

bearclub“I really enjoy interacting with the locals and giving them a chance to try our food,” shared Juan Reyes, Manager/Chef for the Bear Club. “This year we will be serving St. Louis Style BBQ ribs with our own BBQ sauce, baked beans, and for dessert we are serving our house made pistachio ice cream.”

There are over 30 local restaurants, gourmet foods, wineries, and breweries participating this year. Those include Main Street Cafe, Valentino’s Italian Restaurant, School House Restaurant and Tavern, Uncle Harry’s, MCC Cafe, and Bari Olive Oil.

Taste of the Town takes place in Downtown Reedley on September 17 from 6:30-9 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door, and may be purchased throughout Downtown Reedley at the merchants with Taste of the Town Sidewalk signs, and also online at reedleydowntown.com.
