Lady Antebellum has yet again released a CD that has left their fans wanting more. The country trio released their newest album Need You Now into the country music world in January of 2010. Two singles off the album, “Need You Now”, and “American Honey”, both topped the charts just like “I Run to You” from their previous album. The CD debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums charts for the week of February 2, 2010, selling 480,922 copies in the first week. A month after the release of the album, it was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. This album was a successful follow up to their self-titled debut album released in 2008 which also went Platinum.

As a relatively new band, Lady Antebellum is expected to prove to their fans that they can keep their music fresh and different from other country artists, and I think they have succeeded. When I first listened to the CD, I couldn’t stop with only one song; I had to listen to the whole CD. Even now it is still sitting in my stereo, and I listen to it every chance I get. I would say this album is very similar to their first. Both albums have a variety of upbeat choruses and slow ballad-like songs that are full of emotion. If asked, I don’t know if I could pick a favorite song. Each song has its own unique sound and meaning, that I love. I had this problem with their last album also–their music is simply great! Having two successful albums in a row, I am very much looking forward to the band’s next release.

Need You Now is a perfect album for a birthday present, a road-trip, or summer listening. Listening to the album, you are welcomed inside the band’s thoughts and feelings. The variety of emotions allows a listener of almost any age the opportunity of relating to the lyrics. Lady Antebellum has a unique style that appeals to not only country music lovers, but fans of other genres also. The catchy choruses and meaningful verses will have any listener caught up in this album for weeks. I highly recommend this album—you won’t be sorry you checked it out!
