“If you can dream it, we can bake it,” is their mantra and that’s exactly what they do behind the scenes at Maddie Cakes. A family owned business, Maddie and her daughters are the dream team with Maddie still doing every bit of the baking herself and daughter Stephanie, providing the creative artistry as the Head Cake Artist. “My daughter Stephanie is a perfectionist. She can design absolutely anything. It’s incredible the way she will teach herself how to create the exact vision our customers explain. She amazes me every day with her talent.”
Their entire staff, including manager Shaunna, is all about making your cupcake experience a true confection perfection!

Moxie

Maddie Cakes is the product of Maddie’s moxie! Madeline Travis decided to turn her dreams into reality when she left her job of ten years, and invested every dollar of her hard earned savings into her cupcake dreams. Maddie explained, “I had to make it. When I made this decision and this investment, I literally put my heart, soul and retirement into making this business a success. I said goodbye to my regular paycheck and my benefits to do what I truly love, and that was and is, to bake.” cake

This career transition had been bound to happen, as Maddie had been working full-time, but spending all of her days-off baking cupcakes that were unlike any others. She could create the perfect cupcake for every occasion. Soon, the word spread and she was inundated with people asking her if she could create cupcakes for their special occasions. Maddie was working 60 hours a week at her ‘real’ job, and coming home and working tirelessly to create and bake her specialty items! food

Though she was up for a long sought-after promotion at the prestigious restaurant chain where her career had started ten years earlier, Maddie made the courageous decision and took the proverbial plunge. “I went on vacation and never came back,” she explained. That was in 2011. Maddie left her job, signed the lease on the perfect space, and voila—Maddie Cakes was born! She’s never looked back and that’s good, because there’s simply no time for that. Today, over three years later, Maddie is still the only one who bakes every single item found at Maddie Cakes. Each delectable product is baked fresh every morning, and the day begins with the display cases packed full of fresh, unique and tasty treats. If any baked goods remain in the case at the end of the day, they are lovingly packaged and donated to the Poverello House and other non-profits. She delivers them personally and as Maddie shared, it unfailingly warms her heart to hear, “Maddie’s here! Maddie’s here!” cake

Wherever she goes, Maddie is greeted with warmth and appreciation, as she does her trademark impromptu drop-offs of favorite cupcakes, so others can enjoy the sight, smell and taste of her culinary creations. “I feel so blessed and I love to share what we do,” she said as she explained why she takes the time to drop off the goodies here and there. It’s a common occurrence for Maddie to take a batch of creative goodies to neighboring businesses, just so they can delight in the delectable essence that is…Maddie Cakes.
