Tess and Tilly Are on the Case!

Kathi Daley first published her now four-book Tess and Tilly Cozy Mystery in 2017 introducing Tess Thomas, postal carrier and amateur sleuth in White Eagle, Montana. She makes her rounds with golden retriever Tilly delivering cards, letters, packages, and polite, sometimes gossipy, conversation. Joining Tess and Tilly we have BFF/Book Boutique owner Bree Price, Mom and Aunt Ruthie who own a popular café, brother/deputy Mike, childhood friend/computer wiz Tony Marconi, and a whole Main Street full of delightful, if not quirky, friends. Everyone seems to have their own valuable role in determining suspects, uncovering motives, and finding solutions, and now, another engaging mystery has all the residents of White Eagle waiting to see what arrives in the mail. Additionally Tess and Tony are working together to uncover details behind Tess’s father’s death fifteen years ago which has recently been put into question…a letter, photos, and a disturbing phone call have added to the mystery. mystery book cover

The Halloween House earns 5/5 Pumpkins…Very Clever and Engaging!

“Speaking of spooky Halloween houses, did you hear someone moved into the Harrington place?” Hap Hollister explains to a very interested Tess that a decades empty mansion on the outskirts of town has a new owner; the surprise revelation has an actual relative inheriting the property. A house swirling with strange stories of a missing daughter, premature deaths, and suicides have subjected the house to larger-than-life rumors of curses and ghosts. But Deputy Mike receives a disturbing phone call about the new owner finding a skeleton in the closet…literally!

Tess has been struggling with the idea her father thought to be dead this past fifteen years may not have died in the fiery crash. She hasn’t shared this information with her family, even though her brother’s law enforcement connections could be an asset. However, she has enlisted Tony and his expert computer skills and equipment to search for answers. More photos appeared, names uncovered, surveillance noted, and documents found, but it has only led to more questions than answers.

Another marvelous adventure from Kathi Daley! This series is a favorite offering a clever mystery that slowly reveals clues through a realistic investigation. Of course, Tess works with law enforcement, it’s her brother, but she also asks questions and explores evidence in a way that the reader doesn’t have to suspend belief. Daley’s first-person narrative style is informative and engaging, but she doesn’t just rely on it. She includes an entertaining banter that best illustrates emotions and personality.

But, life goes on beyond the mystery d’jour. Tony is field testing video games. Tess continues to help Brady manage adoptions from the animal shelter, BFF Bree and brother Mike continue to navigate their budding romance, as does Tony and Tess. We are also treated to what Kathi Daley does best…holidays. Everyone is prepping for Halloween with orange fairy lights, cobwebs, and Jack o’ Lantern pumpkins. Add to that the marvelous recipes and you have a signature hit from Kathi Daley!
