It’s libraries and ghosts, candy and crafts offered up by your favorite authors this month. Get ready for some good reading!

mystery book coverWhen library materials are found at a hit and run, Briar Creek, Connecticut, library director Lindsey Norris is part of the investigation as police try to find a link between the driver of the stolen car and the woman who borrowed the books. The victim recovers only to have another “accident.” A clue in the library materials might crack the case. Now it’s left to Lindsey to piece it together, which could be hard since the driver of the stolen car turns up dead. Jenn McKinlay is Hitting the Books in her ninth in the Library Lovers series.

mystery book coverOnce you’ve seen a ghost, you have no choice but to believe in spirits. Bookshop owner Penelope Thornton-McClure is haunted by Jack Shepard, 1940s PI. When a customer breaks down in her bookstore, Penelope suspects there’s something behind a notorious bestseller, which maybe more truth than fiction. Everyone in the Rhode Island town is dying to read it. Literally. After a customer has a breakdown in her shop, more readers wind up dead. Now, with the help of her gumshoe ghost, Pen must solve the cold case behind the bestseller before the killer closes the book on her. In the sixth book of the Haunted Bookshop Cleo Coyle isn’t making coffee (her other series) but sleuthing with spirit in The Ghost and the Bogus Bestseller.

mystery book coverIn Sugarland, Tennessee, it’s Pecan Pies and Dead Guys in Angie Fox’s Southern Ghost Hunter seventh book. Verity Long is another woman with a ghost for a sidekick, only hers is a 1920’s gangster. Reluctant roommates, they need to work together when a dead detective blackmails Frankie-the-ghost into solving a cold case. Worse, her deputy boyfriend needs help on an investigation of a body found near a pecan orchard. When pecan pies start appearing at her house, is it a treat or a threat?

mystery book coverFinding Courage is necessary for Harmony Carson when the Rescue, Alaska, rescue team worker shares a memory with a madman. Harmony has a paranormal gift of being able to “see” people she’s suppose to save and feel their fear and pain. Someone has killed a rescue worker team member and now she’s drawn into the murderer’s world. This is Kathi Daley’s third in her Rescue Alaska series.

mystery book coverLabor Day weekend is the end of tourist season on Mackinac Island, Michigan, but things aren’t quiet when a film crew comes to film a murder mystery. The leading man asks fudge shop owner Allie McMurphy to help him prep for a role as a local cop. But when her bichonpoo Mal sniffs out a real murder with a note challenging Allie to catch the culprit. Forever Fudge is Nancy Coco’s seventh Candy-coated mystery.

mystery book coverCrafting maven Cora Chevalier has fulfilled her dreams since moving to Indigo Gap, North Carolina. She’s got a booming business, a boyfriend, and a home. On the eve of her first Crafty Mom’s Escape Weekend, tragedy strikes when the director of the theater is murdered on opening night. Cora’s friend with a mysteries past is accused of the crime. Now Cora needs to get a bead on the killer before there’s an encore performance. Assault and Beadery is Mollie Cox Bryan’s fourth Cora Crafts mystery. Crafting tips included.
