When library materials are found at a hit and run, Briar Creek, Connecticut, library director Lindsey Norris is part of the investigation as police try to find a link between the driver of the stolen car and the woman who borrowed the books. The victim recovers only to have another “accident.” A clue in the library materials might crack the case. Now it’s left to Lindsey to piece it together, which could be hard since the driver of the stolen car turns up dead. Jenn McKinlay is Hitting the Books in her ninth in the Library Lovers series.
Once you’ve seen a ghost, you have no choice but to believe in spirits. Bookshop owner Penelope Thornton-McClure is haunted by Jack Shepard, 1940s PI. Now, with the help of her gumshoe ghost, Pen must solve the cold case behind the bestseller before the killer closes the book on her. In the sixth book of the Haunted Bookshop Cleo Coyle isn’t making coffee (her other series) but sleuthing with spirit in The Ghost and the Bogus Bestseller.
In Sugarland, Tennessee, it’s Pecan Pies and Dead Guys in Angie Fox’s Southern Ghost Hunter seventh book. Verity Long is another woman with a ghost for a sidekick, only hers is a 1920’s gangster. Reluctant roommates, they need to work together when a dead detective blackmails Frankie-the-ghost into solving a cold case. Worse, her deputy boyfriend needs help on an investigation of a body found near a pecan orchard. When pecan pies start appearing at her house, is it a treat or a threat?
