RUBY & DIAMOND RING RAFFLE
A generous donor (and adopter) has given The Cat House on the Kings this stunning ladies’ size 7, 14kt white gold, contemporary ruby and diamond fashion ring. The cathedral-style ring is cast produced and hand finished. The ring features 30 round brilliant-cut diamonds and gorgeous oval-shaped, faceted cut ruby. Appraised value: $4,800. The raffle will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at our Autumn/Holiday Open House We will ship the ring anywhere in the USA. REMEMBER OUR PUMP CRISIS?
We rely on well water at TCHOTK for our 12 acres, and when our aged pump (and some pipes) failed and needed to be replaced, many of you stepped up and helped us pay for it. Then the entire project turned out to be more expensive than we’d initially thought and the crisis grew! In addition to the donations from many of you (including one for several thousand dollars from one Southern California man), we were still left with a hefty bill to pay. Then Gleim-Crown Pump Inc. graciously reduced their bill and gave us a huge discount. One of our most faithful supporters (Karen Rae) stepped in and paid off the rest! Wow! We’re speechless, grateful, and so very thankful for all of you! On behalf of the cats, staff, and volunteers at TCHOTK, thank you so very much.

JUST RESCUED: a scared orange-and-white mom and her five kittens. Please consider this another reminder to spay & neuter! SUGAR RAY (OF SUNSHINE!)
This tiny fighter is still holding his own and receiving as much love and care as we can provide. He’s looking a bit better every day, but he is still about 1/3 the size of his littermates. They were dumped at our facility. Keep fighting, little one! So far, Sugar Ray has gained two ounces! TCHOTK Executive Director Lynea Lattanzio and staff are doing everything they can to keep this little fighter going! Lynea named him “Sugar Ray” because this little runt is such a fighter! Lynea had been tube feeding him, but now he takes the bottle. Since he eats so little, we’ve been feeding him every hour.

FOUND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD
Another poor little guy was found in the middle of a street in a local town. In addition to his goopy eyes (upper respiratory infection), he’s also very malnourished. We’ll do our best with this little one. We’ve rescued kittens with broken legs, eye issues, dangerous infections, burns and bites.

And a 12-week-old kitten has been rescued by TCHOTK. She was born blind and seems to be cognitively slow in development, too. She’s an absolute doll, but gets easily startled and upset with unfamiliar noises and sudden movements. We’re looking for just the right name for this special little one.

UPDATE ON KITTEN WITH BROKEN PELVIS (BUTLER)
He’s been to the vet (of course) and he’s on the mend! We’ve named him Butler because he is always waiting patiently at the door for Cat House staff to enter, chattering when he’s had enough waiting, but still at the door. He’s quite the playful and social fellow despite his injuries.

Butler was mauled by dogs and then tossed over our fence. We received a call from a woman who said that her dogs had injured a kitten. We told her to bring it the next morning and we would see if we could help. When one of our staffers arrived at dawn, the injured kitten had (apparently) just been tossed over (or through) our fence and was in our sally port. He’s alert and friendly and is off to the vet for X-rays since we think he may have an injured pelvis. We don’t understand why someone would just toss a kitten over our fence at night when we said we would take it!

JUST RESCUED
An eight-week-old little girl was found at the Dinuba Walmart, dehydrated, starving, and desperate for attention. She may also have an upper respiratory infection. We’re getting her fixed up and well fed, but kitten season just never seems to slow down!

On a personal note, I decided to add an extra helping hand this summer and returned to the wonderful world of kitten fostering for The Cat House on the Kings. (My husband has been keeping far too busy helping out with California’s wildfires, so I had some extra time on my hands.) After transforming our guest bathroom and my home office into “kitten playland,” I was happy to welcome a terrific trio of kittens who I named Cheddar, Parmesan and Brie! They were rescued by The Cat House on the Kings and arrived covered in fleas, anemic, and very skinny. Though they were decidedly NOT happy with baths and flea combs, we soon had them fluffy and flea-free. It was delightful watching them grow, play, and pass so many important kitten milestones (like pooping in the litterbox!) I was absolutely thrilled when a Cat House on the Kings former adopter stepped forward and decided to adopt all three of them together! In the world of animal rescuing and kitten fostering, that’s as happy an ending as they come. I found that it’s easier saying goodbye to foster kittens knowing what a great job the Cat House on the Kings Adoption Team does in screening applications and finding homes. We can ALWAYS use more foster families … if you’re local to us, please consider filling out a foster application on our website.

At The Cat House on the Kings, we do our best to say “yes” when others say “no.” We believe every kitten counts. We’ve rescued almost 800 cats and kittens so far this year.
