Bonbons and bon mots (witty stuff) are the order of the day in this month’s collection, along with knitters, astrologers, beauticians, and a costume shop. Enjoy reading!

bookAuthor Amanda Flower introduces us to the first in her new Amish Candy Shop Mysteries with Assaulted Caramel. It’s a candy-coated life for Bailey King, assistant chocolatier at world-famous JP Chocolates in New York City. But when her grandmother calls saying Grandpa’s heart condition is worse, Bailey rushes to Harvest, Ohio. That’s where her grandparents run Amish candy shop Swissmen Sweets. Things are getting better for Grandpa until his chocolate knife is found at the store sticking out of a local developer. Now the old man is the prime suspect, so Bailey needs to clear his name. Recipes Included!

bookFudge is back! Oh Fudge, book 6 in the Candy-Coated series by Nancy Coco, finds protag Allie McMurphy dealing with an angry cousin when Allie inherits the family hotel and fudge shop on Mackinac Island, Michigan. Now the woman’s come back but is found at the Butterfly House standing over a corpse impaled with a garden spade. Now Allie has to bury the hatchet and work with her cousin to catch the killer.

bookIf you’re following Sadie Hartwell’s Tangled Web series, book 2 is coming this month. A Knit Before Dying finds Josie Blair settling into the sedate pace of Dorset Falls, Connecticut. Happily running Miss Marple’s Knits and several other projects, she doesn’t have time to even think about her past in New York. But when the antique dealer across the street is found stabbed with sheep shears, Josie has to put her detective hat on. Original knitting patterns included.

bookThe Sagebrush Festival is Proper, Nevada’s annual event. This year’s theme is board games (Remember those?). The Domino Divas went to Margo Tamblyn’s costume shop, Disguise DeLimit, to get their outfits. But, on the night of their performance the head dancer is found dead in her dressing room. Margo learns her dad’s best friend is the prime suspect. He’s connected to the victim by an unsolved robbery from the city’s past. Diane Vallere’s Dressed to Confess is the third in her Costume Shop mysteries and includes recipes and costume ideas.

bookThe stars don’t align for a wedding which San Francisco astrologer Julia Bonatti is in as a bridesmaid. The Moon-Mars-Pluto connection spells trouble, but nobody expected a missing sister, passed-out wedding planner, and a lethal shooting. Julie is called upon to use her astrological insights and winds up becoming a key witness to a crime that stretches beyond the California coast. All Signs Point to Murder is the second in Connie di Marco’s Zodiac Mysteries.

bookFinally, shame on me for missing out on Arlene McFarlane’s June release of Murder, Curlers and Canes, book 2 in the Valentine Beaumont Series. So, who was angry enough with an elderly nun to shorten her journey to heaven? Beautician Valentine wants to find answers but is blocked by a detective, a sexy new stylist, and locals who all have their theories. Plus, she didn’t count on car chases, death threats, mysterious clues, an interfering mother, and a crazy staff.
