This is the latest book in Juliet’s series featuring witch and vintage clothing store owner Lily Ivory. Moving to San Francisco after being exiled from her Texas town for being a witch, Lily is still getting to know people and making new friends. She is very cautious whom she trusts as she has had bad experiences when people find out what she is. Unfortunately, that bad experience continued in San Francisco recently costing her a relationship.

In this book Lily finds herself attending the Art Deco Ball with a very powerful and dangerous witch, Aiden Rhodes. She attends the ball determined to have a great time, though nervous about attending with Aiden, whom she is not certain she can trust. Things start getting strange before the night really begins when she literally runs into a young woman and gets a very strange feeling from her. Later Lily finds the woman in the ladies room on the verge of a death that Lily feels is magic related, and Lily becomes determined to help her.

For some reason Aiden ditches her at the ball and provides very little assistance in this case, warning her to leave it alone. Well of course she can’t and when her friend at the police department asks for her help with a murder case involving another local witch, she’s convinced they are connected and becomes even more determined to find out what’s going on. To complicate her life even further an anti magic group is vandalizing and threatening any store with a suspected magic connection–could they possibly be behind the witch’s death?

There are a lot of twists and turns in this book keeping you guessing all the way through. The vintage clothing store in the Haight-Ashbury District in San Francisco is a fun setting. The characters are great and varied and include a pig/gargoyle as her familiar. Along the way Lily may just find the love she has been looking for in a very unexpected place. If you enjoy a mystery with a touch of magic, a dash of humor, but also a serious side, don’t miss In A Witch’s Wardrobe.
