Jean Grey is a sweet one-year-old Pit Bull Terrier. A few months ago, she came to Valley Animal Center from Fresno Humane Animal Services and has been waiting patiently for a forever home ever since. She is adored by our staff because of her friendly nature.
Jean Grey has a condition known as cerebellar hypoplasia, meaning that her brain is smaller than normal since it did not fully develop. Jean Grey’s case of cerebellar hypoplasia has affected her coordination; she wobbles a bit when she walks. Luckily, she is still able to perform normal activities such as eating and drinking without any pain. Even more so, she is just as active as any other dog her age. We believe that her current condition will not worsen.
Since Jean Grey is technically still a puppy, she has all this stored energy that needs to be released in a safe way. With her condition, Jean Grey has to wear booties on her paws to prevent any scrapes for when she drags her feet. We also recommend that her playtime be limited to grassy or cushioned areas to prevent her from hitting her head on hard surfaces. And absolutely no pools since she might not be able to swim because of her poor coordination.
Pit Bull Terriers have a false reputation of being dangerous. In fact, when properly trained and socialized, Pit Bull Terriers are some of the friendliest dogs you’ll meet, making them great companion and family dogs. They also require proper training to overcome their stubborn tendencies.
Jean Grey should go to a home that will have the time to devote to her and her training. We think that she would be great in an active family since she will require daily exercise because of her age and breed. Additionally, she is a very sweet girl and gets along with children and other dogs.
Like all of our adoptable animals, Jean Grey has already been spayed/neutered, de-wormed, is up-to-date on her vaccinations, and is micro-chipped. For the month of July, all dogs six months and older, that’s including Jean Grey, have an adoption fee of $100; we have a special of 2 kittens for $120. If you would like more information about Jean Grey or any of our adoptable animals, please call the Valley Animal Center at (559) 233-8690 or stop by our facility. Our cat and dog adoption centers are open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.!
