One summer day a couple years ago I was really sad so I decided to browse some YouTube videos. While I was searching I ran across something that looked strange but interesting. When I watched it, I laughed harder then I ever have before. That was the day I became Shane Dawson’s biggest fan.
Shane Dawson is a YouTube comedian, actor, writer, and director. He is known for making highly comedic videos. Some of his featured characters include Ned the nerd, S. Deezy (a loveable, silly gangster), Aunt Hilda (a raunchy Jewish woman), and Shanaynay (a silly, ghetto princess with a third eyebrow). Not only does Shane write all of these videos, he also plays all of the characters. Occasionally his friends join in but mostly the videos are him playing numerous characters. Shane has an entire room full of costumes, wigs, props, a green screen, and video equipment. His main goal is to be close to his fans. He makes several personal video-blogs where he talks about his day and things he is going through. Shane also makes some silly videos with friends when he goes to the mall, amusement parks, or dares his friends to do something very stupid.
Shane was born July 19, 1988 in Long Beach, California. He moved to Los Angeles at the age of 21 (some sources say he was 20 at the time). His original last name was Yaw but he had trouble getting cast because directors assumed he was Asian. So, he changed his last name to Dawson because his favorite show is Dawson’s Creek and and because of Jack Dawson (Titanic). He is the third most subscribed to person on YouTube with over 2 million subscribers. His first channel, ShaneDawsonTV, is where he uploads skits and music video spoofs. His second channel, ShaneDawsonTV2, is where he uploads “Ask Shane” and various random videos. And his third channel, Shane, is where he uploads videos from his iPhone. Shane Dawson is rumored to be pitching a television pilot, “SD High”, to some TV networks.
While Shane’s videos are PG-13 at times, they are very clever. I don’t recommend that very young people watch his videos but anyone over 13 will love his videos to death. Every time I am sad, I watch his videos and they bring me out of the funk immediately. Not only do I watch the videos but I have 2 Shane Dawson t-shirts, which you can buy on his website or at Hot Topic stores around the country.
To learn more about him you can also follow his twitter account @shanedawson or “like” him on Facebook. And check him out for yourself on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/user/ShaneDawsonTV.
