On the night of March 20, 2015, the Valley Animal Center received word about a hoarder house in Fresno that was filled with abandoned animals. These animals were living in very harsh conditions, and their physical health was in extreme danger. Valley Animal Center worked with two other rescues, Dogma Rescue and No Boundaries Rescue, to remove the animals from the terrible living situation in which we found them.

Valley Animal Center was designated as the rescue to take in the cats and kittens. All of the cats were covered in fleas and infested with worms. There were also many kittens that were facing an early death if they did not receive the proper care.

On March 21, a member of our shelter staff went to the house and picked up as many cats as she could fit in her car to take back to the shelter. She was able to rescue quite a few that day. From that point forward, it became an ongoing project for our staff and volunteers to help catch and care for the remaining cats and kittens. VAC

When the animals were first rescued, they were suffering from parasites and illnesses as a direct result of having been so badly neglected. Our staff and volunteers provided them with the special care and medical treatment they needed to survive, and hopefully, one day, be adopted. Today, all of these cats are happy and healthy, and many have already been placed in a loving forever home!VAC cat

vacIn total, Valley Animal Center was able to rescue 38 cats and kittens from the hoarder house. We are so thankful to have such a caring staff and volunteers who are willing to go above and beyond for animals in need!

  1. I have a blind friend who lives in a studio in downtown Fresno. He has 18 cats. He can’t afford to get them fixed so to adopt them out. He has gotten an eviction notice. He recently fell and broke his arm on a railroad track. Can you please help him? Adopt the cats, or, come and get the cats to get them adopted out?
