KRL has been doing a series on Sanger artists over the last few months. We have chatted with Kathleen Mattox and Chieko Delgado, and this week we chat with Adam Eddie Albrecht. (All art work in this post is Adam’s.)
KRL: What kind of art do you do?
Adam: I love to paint pop art on canvas.
KRL: What medium do you use?
Adam: I paint with acrylics on canvas.
KRL: How long have you been an artist?
Adam: I believe I started to paint to sell in 2014 for Sanger Art Hop.
KRL: What first inspired you to become an artist?
Adam: I was an artist before I started to paint on canvas. In 2007, once I graduated from California State University, Fresno with my Bachelor of Arts degree, I started my Fashion Design degree at FIDM in Los Angeles.
KRL: Where do you get your ideas and inspiration?
Adam: Like any artist would say they are inspired by life, movies, books, and their favorite artist. My favorite artists are Andy Warhol, Peter Max, Keith Haring, and Autumn de Forest.
KRL: I noticed that you own a business as well. What type of business is it, and does it tie in to your art?
Adam: My business is called ‘Tis the Season. The theme of my shop is holiday and gift shop that sells unique items and displays my art work.
KRL: Fun! Do you have another career as well?
Adam: As a career I own ‘Tis the Season, paint, and am the Vice President of the Sanger Downtown Business Association. I volunteer for the Sanger Woman’s Club and the Sanger Chamber of Commerce.
KRL: Where can people see and purchase your art?
Adam: At my shop on 7th street in Downtown Sanger.
KRL: Are you a part of the Sanger Art Hop?
Adam: Yes, I am. I have been partnered with the Art Hop for the past two years.
KRL: What do you love most about being an artist?
Adam: My favorite part of being an artist is that there are no rules. You just pick up your bushes, and choose a paint color, and have fun.
KRL: What is the hardest part of being an artist?
Adam: The hardest part is to get the viewer to understand what the artist is either painting or their painting techniques.
KRL: Are you originally from Sanger? If not, where are you from and how did you end up in Sanger?
Adam: I was born and raised in Del Rey, CA. Sanger was always home to my family and friends. Both of my parents attended Sanger High School and we still have friends and family living threw out Sanger. I bought a house in Sanger in 2011.
KRL: What future goals with your art?
Adam: My goal is to just have fun with it. If people love it, enjoy it, and want to purchase it, that is great enough for me.
KRL: Any events or art shows coming up?
Adam: In June, Kathleen Mattox, Chieko Delgado, myself, and few other artist will be showing our art during the Blossom Trail Player performances of The Music Man.
KRL: Do you have a website or social media pages?
Adam: No, I just have my art work on Facebook for my shop ‘Tis the Season page.
KRL: Is there anything you would like to add?
Adam: I have learned different things about art and technique’s from Kathleen Mattox and Chieko Delgado these past few years. I believe they have helped me improve in different ways for the better.
