Lulu is an eleven-month-old female Hound-Shephard mix. She came to Valley Animal Center from Fresno Humane Animal Services with her three sisters in October of 2016. Lulu and her littermates were all given “L” names, and “Little Lulu” was named because she was the smallest of the litter.
Unfortunately, Lulu and her sisters were sick when they arrived at Valley Animal Center. After some testing, we determined they all had a bad case of Parvo. It took almost a month of treatment from our dedicated staff, but Lulu and all of her sisters made a full recovery.
Though they were no longer sick, Lulu and her sisters became terrified of being outside their kennels and of people they did not know. Through constant care from our wonderful volunteers and staff, they soon adapted well to being out on the adoption floor.
Two of Lulu’s sister found their forever homes soon after going up for adoption, and her last sister found her home just last month. Lulu is still waiting to find that perfect home! She continues to work with our staff and volunteers daily; she is doing well with her harness training and loves her afternoon walks to our on-site dog park.
Lulu has a unique personality. Some days she is a puppy all over again! Full of energy, curious of her surroundings, and playing with all the toys she can find. On other days, she prefers to be the perfect relaxed lap dog and cuddle up next to a friend. She is friendly with other dogs and has a special soft spot in her heart for her tiny fur friends. Lulu would enjoy a family with a moderate or high energy setting. She is friendly with kids though she can be nervous around new children at first and will have to warm up to her new friends. Because she has only known her life at the shelter, she will require some patience and training while she learns all of her house manners.
Like all of our adoptable animals, Lulu is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and is micro-chipped. Come visit Lulu at our Dog Adoption Center seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.! If you would like more information about any of our adoptable animals or to get information on our June adoption promotions, please call or visit Valley Animal Center!
