Tomorrowland begins in 1964 with a child named Frank who brings his new invention, a jet pack, to show off at the World’s Fair. Unfortunately for Frank, the judge, David Nix (Hugh Laurie from House), is not at all impressed with the invention. However, a young girl named Athena finds interest in Frank and gives him a pin. She whispers to him to follow her and the judge on It’s a Small World, where the pin takes him through a secret passage that leads to another world, Tomorrowland. This changes Frank’s life forever.

movieBack in the present time we meet Casey, a young optimistic teenager who is trying to prevent a former NASA shuttle launch site from being torn down. She is stopped by security. When her dad bails her out of jail she collects her stuff only to find that there is a pin in her belongings and when she touches it, it transports her into another world, Tomorrowland. As the story unfolds, Casey is joined by the now grown, Frank played by George Clooney, who has become a pessimist. She is also joined by the still young Athena who hasn’t aged a day. They set out on an adventure together to prevent the destruction of the world, and Athena is convinced that Casey is the solution to saving the Tomorrowland.

I was disappointed with the unnecessary language they kept throwing in throughout the movie. It will discourage some parents from allowing their young children to go see it. If it wasn’t for that I think it would be a great movie for all ages. Overall however, I really enjoyed the movie. Tomorrowland is a movie that is destined to be a Disney classic. It has that Disney feel throughout the story, yet the storyline is complex and unique. It has adventure, humor, and an underlying message that we should never give up no matter how impossible life seems.

Tomorrowland is currently playing at Dinuba Platinum Theatres 6. Showtimes can be found on their website. Platinum Theaters Dinuba 6 now proudly presents digital quality films in 2-D and 3-D with 5.1 Dolby digital surround sound to maximize your movie experience.
