Since May is Mental Health Month, we will be featuring a mental health related article every week. You can check out the earlier articles in our Mental Health section. Details at the end of this post on how to enter to win a copy of If You Feel Too Much.
Jamie Tworkowksi is the founder of To Write Love on Her Arms–a non-profit dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and invest directly into treatment and recovery. The organization grew out of Jamie trying to help a friend who was dealing with these same problems, and has ended up helping so many people.
If You Feel Too Much is Jamie’s first book and is a collection of some of the writing he has been doing since 2005. He shares stories from his journey with TWLOHA and some of the people he has met along the way, and intimate stories from his own life and struggles. They offer insight into the growth of the organization and into Jamie’s life–from the end of a relationship to reflections on Father’s day. The stories are short, simple, and inspiring. For those of us who also feel too much, it is a reminder that you can get through even the darkest of days and that you are not alone.
If you are unfamiliar with TWLOHA, this book provides some insight into the organization and its founder. It will move you, make you smile, make you cry and at times make you laugh.
Don’t miss this book! And I highly encourage you to check out the TWLOHA website to learn more about what they do, whether you are someone who needs their help, or someone who would like to be a part of helping others through what TWLOHA does.
