Aloha! My name is Rose Tigarden, and I write Hawaiian-themed stories set in my beloved islands. When I look out my window, I see the view featured on my book cover: Waikiki, the ocean, and Diamond Head. If I walk out onto my lanai and look down from my twenty-eighth floor perch, I see the courtyard with the tropical plantings and koi ponds, our pool is on the roof. Only blocks from my Waikiki condo sits the world’s largest open air shopping center, 2.4 million square feet of elegant, sophisticated shopping and dinning. Ala Moana Shopping Center is hands-down the best and most beautiful mall you have ever seen. It’s 350 shops and restaurants spread over three stories of open air shopping, with beautiful ocean, and center atrium views of tropical plantings, fountains, and koi ponds. This shopping center has everything: a hotel, multi-million dollar condos, and a beach park across the street.

I could not resist setting a crime scene there. So, in chapter 10 of the Hawaiian Tiger Princess Chronicles book 1, Prophecy, when the mayor of Honolulu received a ransom demand of one million dollars for the safe return of the koi from the center atrium at Ala Moana Shopping Center, his first call was to the law firm of KanSu and Associates requesting the help of their investigators. Commander Robert E. Lee, special forces retired, and his daughter PeggySu Lee rush right over to Ala Moana. Commander Lee and his daughter review the surveillance footage. They watch as four men dressed in white jump suits test the water in these beautiful tropical koi ponds and leave. They return with large tanks and remove all the koi from the ponds and place them into these tanks. They wheel the tanks away and add a chemical to the water. The four men load the tanks into a white unmarked van and drive off. Before the night is over, there will be three dead in a gas attack at the shopping center, but they have not gained a single cent, and are out the expense of this deadly attack.

In chapter 11, they continue the search for the missing koi, their kidnappers, and the murders of the three people in Ala Moana Shopping Center. From the beautiful Hawaii Convention Center, the King Kamehameha statue, and Iolani Palace (the only royal palace in the United States) to Chinese New Year’s in downtown Honolulu, there will be two more deaths, and I guarantee you won’t see this surprise ending coming.

I write Hawaiian stories featuring strong female characters drawn from my many years of experiences surfing, sailing, and flying. I’ve lived on sailboats in the warm waters of the Pacific most of my life. I’ve got over thirty-thousand blue waters miles under my hull and and have transited the Panama Canal and worked on private charter boats in the Caribbean. My first book, Life’s a Beach on Maui, is a romantic adventure about three generations of surfers, written while I still lived on Maui.

While working in Hollywood I pitched a television series, KanSu Murder Mysteries, which I have now written as a seven book series. Prophecy is the first book in the Hawaiian Tiger Princess Chronicles, written episodically with a cast of characters like television. This collection of fast-paced crime thrillers follows the exploits of PeggySu Lee, our protagonist, from her birth in Hong Kong during the Vietnam War through her career as a private detective and attorney with the family law firm in Honolulu. PeggySu is the Tiger Princess, a double-edged sword, both private investigator and attorney-at-law. Trained by her father, Commander Robert E. Lee, special forces, she is an expert in all forms of self-defense, both armed and unarmed.

These beach reads are published in large print for easy reading. Glimpse the underbelly of Honolulu as you read the various cases of KanSu & Associates and Lee Investigations. Walk the streets with the exotic PeggySu Lee and the handsome young homicide detective Keanu Wong.

I guess you might say that the cases in this collection of short stories are ripped from the headlines nationwide. I’ve just manipulated them to fit into the Hawaiian culture. I’ve placed many cases right here in my neighborhood from China town in Honolulu to Diamond Head and Waikiki. In chapter 5, The Case of the Hula Dancers, we find our tritagonist Detective Wong investigating the stabbing death of a hula dancer in Waikiki. PeggySu is a chameleon, and she goes under cover at a Waikiki hula show as well as at a strip club out by the airport in order capture the real murder.
