COS Art Gallery Annual Student Show

The COS Art Gallery will close out the Spring semester with the very much anticipated Annual Student Show! Highlighting a variety of skills and techniques the students have learned in the classrooms of COS, the show will feature art created by COS art students in a number of different categories in both 2D and 3D. The different categories will feature two- dimensional works in Color & Design, Digital, Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking and three-dimensional works in Ceramics, Sculpture, Stained Glass, and 3D Design.

The show will run from April 28 through May 8 with a reception on Thursday, April 30 from 5-7 p.m. in the COS Art Gallery. There will also be an award ceremony at 5:30 p.m. where the anticipated Award of Merit and Honorable Mention for each of the categories will be announced. Other awards such as the Transfer Scholarship, for art major(s) graduating and transferring to a four-year institution, the Senefelder Award which honors merit and dedication to art as a chosen field, and the Outstanding Art Student award.

This year’s juror, Aimee Dent, is a Fresno native. She obtained her Bachelors and Masters of Arts degrees from CSU Fresno and during that time participated in the founding of the Induction Center for Contemporary Art, beginning in 2002. She is a co-founding member of the Corridor 2122 in Fresno who just celebrated their 10-year anniversary in September 2014. Dent has been teaching as an adjunct faculty member for the State Center Community College District since 2010 and has exhibited throughout the San Joaquin Valley.

The COS Art Gallery is located on the bottom floor of the Kaweah Building in room 214 on the College of Sequoias Visalia Campus. Free parking is available during the night of the reception in parking lots 3 and 7. Gallery hours are Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and Thursday 11 a.m.-7 p.m. For any questions or information regarding the show, you may call the COS Art Gallery at 559-737-4861 or visit the COS website at www.cos.edu. Jessica Robles was born and raised in Visalia, California. She studied fine art at the College of the Sequoias, then went on to receive her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and her MFA from Northern Illinois University, both with an emphasis in printmaking. She is now an adjunct art instructor and the Gallery Director of the COS Art Gallery at the College of the Sequoias.
