Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno shares with us every other month about their rescue dogs.
Did you know that dogs with black fur are statistically less likely to be adopted than dogs with lighter colored fur? Well, here at Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno (LRRF), we think black dogs are absolutely amazing! We are pleased to introduce you to one of our fantastic black dogs available for adoption, Dash! This dashing Black Labrador is 4 years old and approximately 75 lbs. He is an energetic sweetheart who loves to run and dash around, hence his name! Poor Dash was abandoned in a grocery store parking lot and with help from some very kind people, he made his way to LRRF, where he is loving his new life as a LRRF dog!
Even though Dash loves his foster family, he does long to find his true forever family where he can be best friends forever with his people. Maybe you are in need of a furry best friend forever?
Dash is a true good boy with all those delightful classic Labrador traits we all love: he is fun-loving, friendly & affectionate, energetic, and thinks he is a lap dog! Dash is a smarty too, he is already crate-trained, house-trained, and knows several commands. He loves to bring a smile to peoples’ faces with his goofy antics at playtime and loves to zoom around to release his energy. There is nothing more joyful than an adult dog with the zoomies! Dash enjoys a good game of chase the ball. His favorite part is when he gets the ball and then has you chase him to get it back. Such fun! Dash gets along great with other dogs of all sizes and would love a canine companion at his forever home, especially if his people work outside of the home.
Dash is an energetic guy and would do best as a member of an active family without very young children as he gets quite excited and may be a bit too rambunctious for very little ones. Dash also does not care for felines; they are just too tempting to race & chase. After all his dashing around, Dash loves nothing more than to cuddle up close with his people for a good nap. Please note Dash does have some scarring and hair loss on his snout which he has had since he came to our rescue. Our vet thinks he may have been burned at some point in his prior life, but it does not bother Dash at all, he just keeps smiling! If you are looking to add a fun-loving furry best friend to your family, please apply to adopt Dash today at labrescuefresno.org!
Dash is just one of the many dogs looking for their forever families. The past couple of years have been really tough, as shelters and rescues have been inundated with dogs of all ages in need of families and adoption rates have been on the decline. Sadly, 2025 is more of the same. We are overwhelmed and desperately need all the help we can get! We understand that not everyone is able to provide a permanent home for a dog, but there are still many ways you can help dogs in need in your community.
Not in a place to permanently adopt a Labrador, but still want to help out? Consider fostering! Fostering is the vital stepping stone to get a dog from homelessness to their forever family and provides an extremely rewarding experience. There is nothing like watching a scared dog learn to trust and love again and blossom into their true selves. LRRF provides all veterinary care, food, and supplies for foster dogs, however we do ask that you live within an hour or so drive of Fresno in order to take your foster dog to our vet as needed. Please apply to foster at: labrescuefresno.org/become-a-foster/foster-application.
Not ready to foster, but still want to help? Consider making a tax-deductible donation to LRRF! We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and 100% of all donations go to care for the dogs in our rescue. You can donate via PayPal on our website, www.labrescuefresno.org, or via snail mail to LRRF, PO Box 1484, Clovis, CA 93613. LRRF covers all medical care for our dogs and we often take in older dogs or dogs with injuries and illnesses, so we are always in need of monetary donations so we can help more dogs with complicated medical needs. Also check out our Amazon Wishlist which has a variety of supplies our Labradors always need.
If nothing else, please spay/neuter your pets, and educate and advocate for spay/neuter in your community! Please do not patronize backyard breeders as it perpetrates the cycle of neglect and abuse we so often see in rescue, and encourage your friends and family to do the same. Adopt! Shelters are full of wonderful dogs and cats just waiting for a family of their own.
We greatly appreciate your support and could not save dogs like Dash without your help!
