Home is an animated film based on the book, The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex. An Alien race called the Boov are running away from the evil Gorg. They make Earth their home and they relocate the humans to a different part of the Earth so they can live in their human homes. A young girl, Gratuity, nicknamed Tip by her friends, is separated from her mom, and is on a mission to find her. In her quest, she runs into the Boov, Oh (voiced by Jim Parsons) who has accidentally sent a housewarming invitation to everyone in the galaxy. There is only a matter of time before the Gorg finds them. Oh becomes a fugitive and ends up joining Gratuity on her quest to find her mom. Oh uses Gratuity to try to escape his punishment and eventually they become friends. movie

Home is a unique film full of new characters and a fun yet unusual plot. I especially like the humor that Jim Parsons from The Big Bang Theory brought to the character Oh. I found that his character from his show also came out into the Boov character on the movie, he even has the same laugh which is unusual in itself. I also enjoyed the other popular actors and actresses that had voice parts such as Jennifer Lopez and Steve Martin.

I think it was creative how they released a short before the movie came out called Almost Home to get everyone curious about the movie, which came out quite a bit later. I don’t know if I would have seen it otherwise.

It’s a fun movie that can be enjoyed by all ages. It has some clean humor thrown in that only adults can appreciate which is a fun bonus to taking the kids. Overall, it’s a must see for all ages.
