“Who is Jesus?” For over 2,000 years, this question has echoed through time, challenging scholars, leaders, and everyday people alike. In the 1960s, it took center stage as young Americans wrestled with its meaning—a curiosity that inspired John-Michael Tebelak and Stephen Schwartz to create Godspell in 1971. This vibrant, fun-filled musical retelling of the Gospel of Matthew still resonates today, and Action Community Theater (ACT) in Clovis is thrilled to bring it back for the 2025 Easter season. We’re inviting you, our Fresno and Clovis neighbors, to join us on April 4, 5, 11, and 12 for a show that’s free, uplifting, and unforgettable.

At ACT, we believe theatre has the power to bring people together, and Godspell captures that beautifully. Tebelak and Schwartz saw Jesus’s message as a unifying force—drawing tax collectors and fishermen together 2,000 years ago, just as it connected people in their own era. Through lively songs and heartfelt stories, the musical shows how love, forgiveness, and humility can bridge divides, uniting folks from all walks of life. Directed by the talented Robert Sanchez, our production features a stellar cast—Max Debbas, Jonathan Aguirre, Brianne Debbas, Elly Walczak, and Abby Walczak—who bring this timeless tale to life with energy and heart.

Why should you come see it? Godspell is more than a show—it’s a celebration of community and faith, perfectly timed for Easter. You’ll laugh at its playful moments, tap your toes to classics like “All for the Best,” and feel the warmth of its message wash over you. It’s a night of family-friendly fun and powerful storytelling that invites you to ponder that big question: “Who is Jesus?” Last year, Fresno and Clovis filled our seats and cheered us on, proving this musical strikes a chord here. Whether you’re a returning fan or new to ACT, we’d love to see you again.

True to our mission, every performance is free—just as it’s always been at ACT. We want everyone to experience this story, no ticket required. Donations are welcomed, though, and every dollar goes to Convoy of Hope, supporting their work to fight poverty and injustice worldwide. Imagine enjoying a great show with your neighbors, knowing your generosity is making a global impact. That’s what ACT is all about: sharing joy locally while giving back globally.

Join us on April 4, 5, 11, and 12—Friday and Saturday evenings with a matinee on the 12th.

Seating is limited, so reserve your seats at ActionCommunityTheater.com.

Bring your family, your friends, or your church group—there’s room for all. At ACT, we’re not just a theatre; we’re a community telling stories that matter. This Easter season, come sing, laugh, and reflect with us. We can’t wait to welcome you!
