This time of year is always a bad time for video games, as developers are gearing up for E3 in June, where the biggest video game announcements are made. However, there is always something to be excited about in the gaming world as new games are released on a daily basis.

gameThe biggest news of this month was the teaser/trailer for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The trailer was very vague but it stirred up some excitement for the release of the game on September 14, 2018. I am absolutely in love with the Tomb Raider series, so I rejoiced when I heard there would be a new game soon. The last Tomb Raider was in 2015, and I have been dying for a new one ever since. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is rumored to be the final game in the series and concludes Lara’s origin story of becoming the expert raider of tombs. The official reveal of the full details of the game will be on April 27, 2018.

gameSea of Thieves, the much-anticipated, online, multiplayer pirate game, was released on March 20, 2018. In this game, the player sails the sea on a pirate ship, with each member of your team assuming a different duty, such as hoisting sails or shooting cannons. The downside is that the game can only be played online, and unless the player has a lot of friends to play with, it’s pretty much pointless. Critics have been disappointed by the lack of tasks to complete, the smallness of the world, and the many server issues that occur when trying to join the game.

After waiting four years for a new Far Cry game, Far Cry 5 was finally released on March 27, 2018. The game is a first-person shooter, set in Hope County, Montana. A cult has been formed in Hope County led by a preacher named Joseph Seed. The gamer plays as a sheriff’s deputy sent to Hope County to arrest Seed. Reviewers are praising the game’s unique setting and new ways of building up your character. game

Night School Studio, the developer of one of my favorite games of all time, Oxenfree, released a trailer on March 21, 2018 for a game called Afterparty, set to release sometime in 2019. The game follows two people, Lola and Milo, who find themselves in Hell, and must win a drinking game against Satan. The game features gameplay and graphics similar to that of Oxenfree.

March was a slow month for video games; still, highly-anticipated games were finally released. This year is shaping up to be a wonderful year for games.
