Details on how to win a copy of 3 mysteries mentioned in past columns at the end of this post.

Only a week away! I couldn’t cover all the authors but Coming Attractions will continue to share about upcoming mystery novels even after LCC is but a memory.

In the eighth Maggy Thorson Mystery, the owner of Uncommon Grounds coffee shop in Wisconsin treks to a Southern Florida writers conference with her law-enforcement beau Jake. It’s Murder on the Oriental Espresso as a re-enactment of the Agatha Christie mystery on a train to the Everglades threatens to derail the outing. Sandra Balzo once again produces a novel with a caffeinated jolt.

He’s a grumpy old man and a Hiroshima survivor, but Mas Ari agrees to be best man at his friend’s wedding in the forth installment of Naomi Hirahara’s series. When the bride’s Japanese doll display goes missing, fingers point to the groom and the wedding is called off. It’s up to Mas to uncover heartbreaking memories and the truth in Blood Hina.

Three women, 3 South Carolina colleges, 3 coed murders. Agent Mick O’Shaughnessy is called in to find the killer and in the process he meets Meg Connelly, advisor to the latest victim. As the investigation and their relationship heats up, Meg becomes a target for the killer. The Professor is a stand-alone by Cathy Perkins.

James Champion III seeks the Counsel of Ravens in the second of M.M. Gornell’s Route 66 Mysteries. Although hiding out in the Mohave Desert, East Coast ties still bind. Time to revive this man’s skills as a psychologist!

It’s a cold case and the murderer would prefer to keep it that way. However, Thumper the black cat will bet one of his 9 lives that he can help Kimberlee find out who killed her father. Black Cat’s Legacy is the first in Elaine Faber’s Black Cat Mysteries. Meow! (a review of Black Cat’s Legacy coming soon in KRL)

Don’t “Come as you are,” but come as your future self to Joyce Mason’s The Crystal Ball. Meet astrologer Miki Michaels in her first mystery. She uses flower essences to solve problems while her ex-FBI agent boyfriend uses more traditional methods. Smells like trouble to me.

I’ve never heard the term “preppers” for those people who bunker down and get ready for the world to end. Agent Jamie Dallas learns about them from the inside when she infiltrates their Northern California compound called “Destiny” to look for a missing woman and child. There’s no way to reach her contacts so how will she escape in time to stop the end-of-the-world scheme? The Trigger is a hair-raising beginning for the Agent Dallas Thriller series by L.J. Sellers.

Toni Ryder has inherited the family homestead in Oiltop, Kansas. She sets up a bakery on Main St. and smells something sinister on the rise. A Gluten For Punishment is the first in the Baker’s Treat Mysteries by Nancy J. Parra (who also writes under pen name Nancy Coco). Added bonus: gluten-free recipes included. Yum!

It’s not a headline story, but burned-out journalist Liz Crane is assigned to write a piece about boarders who face eviction. Along the way she’s drawn into their battle. Flint House won 1st prize in the Northern California Publishers and Authors for Kathleen L. Asay. Special note: that’s her father’s art work on the cover.

To enter to win copies of A Tine To Live A Tine to Die Edith Maxwell, Mercury’s Rise Ann Parker, Bordeau: The Bitter Finish by Janet Hubbard Brown, which were all mentioned in Sunny’s column, simply email KRL at krlcontests@gmail[dot]com by replacing the [dot] with a period, and with the subject line “LCC Part 6,” or comment on this article. A winner will be chosen March 22, 2014. U.S. residents only.
