Upon her arrival at our facility, Calliope was timid and fearful. She bore the scars of her past, including a severe injury to her left front leg, possibly inflicted by a dog attack. With time, she has begun to reveal her true, sweet nature, showing a profound craving for human affection. Her wound is slowly improving with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications, but she may need stitches to fully close the injury and prevent further complications.

Maritza Lopez, our animal care operations supervisor, reflects on Calliope’s journey: “Calliope is one of the lucky ones; she came into care before the infections got too bad. Not all abandoned animals are that lucky.” Her story underscores the critical importance of timely intervention and the profound impact it has on an animal’s recovery.
