This Rogue show begins this weekend & asked if they could still do a preview article–so you here go! Don’t miss all of our Rogue Festival articles & reviews & don’t miss Rogue!

Take a sneak peak into the heart, mind, and soul of Choreographer Terrance Henderson and T.O. Henderson Dance Incorporated (TO DANCE Inc.) through this evening of contemporary dance excerpts… A theatrical experience through dance, sound, image, spoken word, song featuring two original works.

Vessel -which Henderson describes as “that hollow place inside all of us where our pain, our secrets, our dreams, our fears, and our truth lives. It’s the essence of who we really are and only allow those few people closest to us in to. But it’s that connection that feeds us drives us and connects us to the universal spirit and healing of all mankind. We accept the responsibility and sacrifices in order to strive for a better place for us all.”

Opening the show will be the premier of excerpts from his evening-length work, the Black Man…Complex tackling the crossroads of sexuality, ethnicity, identity, and society. Henderson and dancer Malcolm Rembert premiered Two Brothas an episode from the BMC as guest artists in last year’s NoCo Rogue Show 2012 at Tower theater.

Through Hole in My Bucket Henderson delves into the process of dealing with some of life’s disappointments and trying to find motivation, meaning and self-encouragement in a world of frustration, complexity, and uncertainty. “After dealing with the loss of my dad the entire world seemed to turn upside down and as painful as the grief and loss was and still is, it was the realization that this was what now part of the rest of my life that crushes me. The price of love is loss, but still we pay.”

Henderson combines his rhythmic musicality and full bodied movement aesthetic, digital images and video, and a wide range of music from artists like Bobby McFerrin, Nina Simone, John Legend, Radiohead, Ace Hood, Tech N9ne, and Herbie Hancock. Hole In My Bucket: a perspective is a contemporary dance experience. TO DANCE Inc is based in Columbia, South Carolina.
