We love to help the misfit kitties at shelters that don’t stand a chance of making it out alive! These are two very special kitties that will either find a forever home, or will live at our rescue running free.
First there is Maggie
She came from the Fresno Humane shelter. She is from a feral colony and has a damaged front leg. After getting her neutered, the shelter didn’t want to release her back in the area she came from. They felt she couldn’t defend herself without the use of her front leg. Our rescue is known to take in cats like Maggie. We evaluate them to see if they would fit in with our other free-roaming, friendly, feral cats, and Maggie was a great candidate. She is doing just fine at our rescue, and has made friends with several other kitties. She will live out her life here. It is wonderful to watch her running around with the other cats, all safe and loved. Then there is Dusty
He came from the Selma shelter. He is just a love bug who loves to talk and talk to you. He was born with a cleft lip which makes him look different from other cats. Many people do not want a kitty who isn’t perfect looking, but to us here at the rescue, he is just a handsome boy. He had a home, but his owner passed away. Then he got adopted, but after less than a month, his new owner passed away. So he ended up back at the shelter. Then as time went by, shelter life was becoming too difficult for this cat who lost two owners. He was getting depressed. So, the shelter asked us if we had a place for him. Of course, we took that handsome boy. He is up for adoption at our rescue. Our rescue loves helping kitties who aren’t perfect, who may be shy or standoffish, may have a physical imperfection, or have difficult health issues, get out of shelters and find forever homes.
I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: Make arrangements for your pets so that if something were to happen to you, your pet would have a safe place to go. It’s not that different from appointing a guardian for your minor children if you were to die. After all, pets are just like children to us. It is hard enough on a pet to lose its beloved owner, but to find itself in a shelter is devastating. Please find a safe, loving home for them. They deserve it, and you will rest easier knowing they will be safe and loved when you are no longer here.
