This year’s Immanuel Boys Basketball team has acquired new members to their staff and team. Josh Justin (Immanuel Biology teacher) and Nate McClurg are new additions to this year’s varsity head coaching staff. The team has also acquired some new players: C.J. Dodd: Point Guard and Chris Bailey: Guard, Forward Lance Henderson: Forward, Guard.
The start of this season didn’t start off too well, two quick losses to Sierra Pacific and Minarets set the team back, but the team quickly bounced back with four straight wins against Orange Cove, Mendota, Riverdale, and Paramount Bard Academy. All those wins also coming without their current starting point guard, C.J, Dodd, who could not play until we reached the second semester due to a transfer from San Joaquin Memorial. At this point, the team was 4-2 and was starting the year off right, but soon after that Immanuel lost to Madera by only four points.
After the small setback, Immanuel beat Orange Cove again by a score of 46-30. Immanuel’s season was looking good going into game number nine of the season, they were winning games and momentum was high, but after the Orange Cove game Immanuel lost three games in a row to Sierra Pacific, Orosi and Minarets, setting their record back to an even 5-5.
