MONSTERS WEEKLY — Fresno Monsters Hockey

WEEKEND RECAP

The Fresno Monsters made the long bus ride to Wenatchee Washington last weekend to play the Wild. After being swept at Selland Arena the week before by scores of 3-0 and 5-0, the Monsters had there work cut out for them.

On Friday night Fresno let the Wild know that right away that they would not be pushed over again. Mitchell Snyder scored in the first period to give the Monsters a 1-0 lead. That lead would hold up until the third period when Wenatchee’s Jono Davis would tie the game 1-1. However, Fresno would respond just two minutes later as Trevor Husch would put the Monsters up for good with his 14th goal of the season. Fresno’s Jacob McDowell would add an insurance goal and Monsters goalie Tomas Sholl would shut the door from there. Sholl stopped 41 of the 42 shots he faced in the 3-1 win.

Saturday night would prove to be another battle with the division’s top team but Fresno was not going to be denied their first sweep in Wenatchee in franchise history. Nick McKee would record a hat trick for Fresno. McKee scored all 3 of the Monsters’ goals in regulation and the record game winner in the shootout to give Fresno a 4-3 win. With his efforts on Saturday night McKee was awarded the NAHL West Division Player of the week on Monday!
