In 2007, Visalia dedicated The Jim Byrd Playground. This very unique playground was designed with the assistance of students from two Visalia elementary schools and physically constructed entirely by citizen volunteers. One of its features is the 1000 hands wall.
When I was a little boy, Mr. Walt Grawan owned the Sun Kings Café on Eleventh Street. All the local businessmen had hand-painted, personalized coffee cups hanging from a shelf behind the counter. Everybody went to Sun King.
The second phase of the Riverway Sports Park opens June 5 at the new four field youth baseball complex. Ceremonies begin at 6:45pm.
