Oscar Wilde

by Lorie Lewis Ham

An Ideal Husband opened at Good Company Players 2nd Space Theatre in Fresno on April 21. This play was written by Oscar Wilde, of whom I am a huge fan, so I’ve been waiting anxiously to see this show ever since I saw it listed on GCP’s 2nd Space season.

I have been a fan of Oscar Wilde ever since I saw The Importance of Being Earnest, so when I heard that the Curtain 5 Theatre Group was doing a play based on Wilde’s novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, I was very excited.

2013 has been another interesting year of theatre in the Valley. While there weren’t as many new and edgy shows, there were a lot of really good ones.

I have been a fan of Oscar Wilde ever since seeing Gross Indecency earlier this year presented by The New Ensemble, and find myself wondering why it took me so long to discover his work. When I heard that 2nd Space was doing The Importance Of Being Earnest, a play by Oscar Wilde, I couldn’t wait to see it!

Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, presented by The New Ensemble, opened this past weekend at the Broken Leg Stage in the Tower. I never know what I’m going to get when I see a TNE show as they tend to do more out of the box kind of shows that I’ve never seen before. What I always know is that it will be interesting, thought provoking, and well done.
