Sometimes, the lack of a reaction tells you more than any startled gasp ever could. That’s what I’m realizing now that my A Cat on the Case, the third Witch Cat of Cambridge cozy mystery, makes its way to readers. The big shock? Cat people aren’t surprised by the idea that cats have magical powers. It’s as if they already knew.
If she hadn’t overheard that one conversation, Josie Way would still be working in her dream job as a librarian in the Library of Congress. But listening to a senator’s aide make an illicit deal with a contractor forced Josie to report it to the authorities, which had her fleeing D.C. after her fellow whistleblower disappeared and she feared that she could be next.
It’s MO fun, MO food, MO murder? Muriel Bright is at her best showcasing pancetta-wrapped peach slices (recipe included) for a studio filled with eager fans of her cooking show and bantering with her friend and co-host Ophelia Cheval, but a burned tongue, minor electric shock, and an almost Jerry Springer-type confrontation forces her to “time stretch” and defuse the situation with a few Kitchen Witches hidden under chairs.

What a delivery system for news and announcements in Whispering Falls! Faith Mortimer, editor-in-chief and clairaudient, “whispers” into the air the news and announcements for subscribers to “psychically” hear...definitely eco-friendly! This morning she leads with an announcement about the baby shower to celebrate June’s Little One’s impending arrival. It’s not known if it’s Little Girl or Little Boy since June prefers the surprise. However, first things first is a check-up with a non-magical doctor that June discovered had been her mother’s doctor when fresh out of med school.
