Everyone loves Lion King. I mean it has everything: romance, adventure, plots against kings, and even a little family drama, all while being a cute Disney movie the whole family can enjoy. Children’s Musical Theaterworks takes Disney’s Lion King Jr and presents a musical that everyone can enjoy as well—whether you have a kid in the cast or not. My boyfriend and I didn’t know anyone in the show, and we still had a great night.

This past weekend saw the Central Valley premiere of the musical The Hunchback of Notre Dame, presented by Children’s Musical Theaterworks (CMT) in Fresno. I had never seen this show before, but now it is on my list as being one of my favorite shows.

This weekend we went to see Little Mermaid Jr. presented by Children’s Musical Theaterworks (CMT) in Fresno. I had never seen a Jr. production of a show before, nor had I seen one of CMT’s productions where the cast ranges in age from 13 to 18 (I have only seen their Underground shows), so I didn’t know what the expect. What followed was a lovely evening with a show presented by some very talented kids.

The San Joaquin Valley is filled with amazing talent, both in theatre and music. Here at KRL we enjoy being able to feature some of that talent and give our readers some insight into the lives of the people they see on stage. This week we are profiling local actor Greg Ruud, who was recently seen at Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater in A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to The Forum.

Here at KRL we like to point the spotlight on some of the incredible talent we have in the Valley. One way is by profiling local theatre actors and directors. This month we are profiling one of the younger actors shining on Fresno stages, Sarah Waxman, whom you may have seen this summer in A Chorus Line.

One thing we enjoy doing at KRL is putting the spotlight on those involved in local theatre, so those of us who attend can get to know the people on the stage and behind the scenes of the great productions we have in the Valley. Sometimes we feature someone who has been involved in theatre for years, and sometimes it’s one of the younger, up and coming performers. This time it is one of the younger ones that has caught our eye in some great productions over the past year with his beautiful voice, dancing, and sparkling stage presence-Dominic Grijalva.

This Valley is blessed with so much talent and one of my favorite features in KRL is our local actor profiles–introducing our readers to the people behind that talent. Most of the actors/directors we have profiled have been in theatre for years, but once in awhile we decide to feature a young talent that has caught our eye–one of those was Benjamin McNamara, and this week we are profiling another–Daniel Hernandez, who can currently be seen on stage at Roger Rocka’s in Singin’ In The Rain.

Jekyll & Hyde Presented by CMT

I never stop being amazed by the level of talent that this Valley has to offer and I hope I never will. However, until seeing Spring Awakening presented by CMT (Children’s Musical Theaterworks) in Fresno this summer I had never seen a CMT show. After seeing Jekyll & Hyde this weekend, I have now been blown away twice in a row and have to say why did I wait so long to discover them?
