They say don’t meet your heroes, they will only disappoint you. I have met a lot of celebrities that I thankfully wasn’t a fan of who were arrogant, rude, and acted like they were better than everyone else. However, when it comes to meeting the people that I admire and am a huge fan of, I have been very lucky.

Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE Buffy the Vampire Slayer-it is my all time favorite TV show. Well if you too are a fan of Buffy, then you are in for a treat! Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander, is on a special kind of tour doing different types of small meet and greet events for fans, and one of those stops is in Fresno!

Have you ever turned on the TV and found a movie you always wanted to see, but it’s more than halfway through, and you don’t have the “View From Beginning” option? Who are these people? Why are they doing these things? That’s what it’s like to read the last book of a trilogy when you haven’t read the first two.

I am so excited this week to bring you not only a review of the new fantasy novel The Witches of Echo Park by Amber Benson, but also an interview with Amber about this new series. Amber Benson is best known for playing Tara in Buffy the Vampire Slayer–my all time favorite TV show! I have had the pleasure of meeting Amber and she is just as sweet and delightful in person as you would expect. At the end of this post you will also find info on how to enter to win a copy of the book, and a link to purchase the book where a portion goes to help support KRL & indie bookstore Mysterious Galaxy.

Angel: TV Review

In the midst of fog and dust, leftover from the detonation of Sunnydale High School, Buffy Summers’ heart throb, Angel, made a place for himself in Los Angeles, protecting the unsuspecting citizens from all sorts of demons. Series creator, Joss Whedon, stated that after the episode Surprise (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s second season) hit the airwaves, he knew actor, David Boreanaz, could carry his own show. Thus leading to the ensouled vampire landing his own spin-off, which spanned for five seasons, encompassing not only new ideas, and some substantially creepier episodes than the pioneer series, but brought both new faces together with familiar ones.

Are you looking for some fresh blood in the music industry? Look no further than twin sisters, Lisa and Gina Gomez, who make up the band known as Gemeni. Performing at local talent shows and country fairs since the age of five, in their home state of Florida the sisters have also been submersed in musical theater, performing in nine musicals and one opera and also went on to make an appearance on America’s Next Great Star. Then, in July 2012, the girls packed their bags and said goodbye to Florida to make a new life for themselves in sunny Los Angeles, California.

According to my mom, she is to blame for my love of vampires because she would let me watch Dark Shadows with her when I was just a baby. Whether it’s her fault or not, I’ve loved vampires for as long as I can remember and much of that love comes back again to TV vampires. Halloween seemed like a perfect time to take a look at some of my favorites, and some of the most popular, TV vampires.

From March 10, 1997 to May 20, 2003, a pop culture phenomenon, that was considered to be one of the best television shows to hit the air waves, graced us on the small screen. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a mix of horror, comedy, romance and melodrama. It spanned for seven seasons and the witty dialogue of the show continues in comic book form to this day.

We had the incredible honor of interviewing Amber Benson of Buffy The Vampire Slayer (she played Tara) fame about her new book, The Golden Age Of Death. We also asked her about what projects she has coming up, her new book series coming out next year, and of course a Buffy question! Amber is a sweet person and it was wonderful meeting her. Hope you enjoy this interview as much as we enjoyed doing it.

We are SO very excited to be able to share with KRL readers not only a review of Amber Benson’s new urban fantasy novel How To Be Death, but also a wonderful interview with the absolutely charming and sweet Amber! We also have a copy of How To Be Death to give away–details at the end of this post. For those who don’t know, Amber played Tara in the best TV show ever (in my personal opinion) Buffy The Vampire Slayer!

I had the pleasure recently of meeting Nancy Holder at a Yosemite Romance Writers Group meeting in Fresno and of hearing her speak. Nancy has written several Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel tie in books so I took some time to ask her about those and a few things about her other writing. Later this year we will be interviewing Nancy about her other writing and reviewing the first book in her new series, Unleashed!
