It is finally happening. Despite suspecting one another of murder, problematic exes, unknown children, and an unplanned pregnancy, Sorenson, Wisconsin’s medico-legal death investigator Mattie Winston and Detective Steve Hurley are finally getting married. That’s not to say that Mattie is gracefully walking down the aisle just yet, as more than one debacle has her thinking that perhaps the Fates are sending a message.

As Thanksgiving approaches, Wisconsin Deputy Coroner Mattie Winston is not feeling very grateful. Her beautiful infant son has left her in a continual state of mommy-angst brain, anxious over the time that he does sleep almost as much as when he doesn’t. Her postpartum body, baby spit-up wardrobe, and inability to find time to comb her hair, also has Mattie feeling more than a little inferior when compared to the gorgeous police videography specialist who is not shy about expressing her attraction to Detective Steve Hurley.

Another year has come to a close and the main reviewers of KRL have been asked to pick their top 5 books of 2015, but some of us couldn’t keep it to 5! Let us know if you have a few we haven’t mentioned you’d like to share about in the comments, and while you are here check KRL’s book review section for many more great books that may not have made it on the list!
